The Gathering Part 2

The family and I were so excited when we finally reached the place where the gathering was being held ( a nice sized lot next to the harbor); we couldn't decide which truck to try first ( The list included: The Frojol Bros., Dangerously Delicious Pies, Souper Freak, The Silver Platter, Cazbar, Miss' Shirleys and many more) so we chose to divide and conquer.

I spent the first 5 minutes trying to find Kooper's Chowhound Wagon, but it wasn't there!  I was sooo disappointed because like I said before I was really looking forward to having one of their gourmet burgers. So, I had to reorganize and re-strategize to set my sights on something else.

The Hubby and I decided on the Silver Platter because they had a nice extensive menu. Har settled on the chili ribs ($8). They are served on top of thin fried potato strings in a Chinese food box, which I think is great because it is a play on the typical rib platter with fries.  The taste was fantastic, that's if you don't mind sweet, because that's what they were sweet...with a hint of chili pepper. They were also tender, meaty and nice sized portion.I chose the pulled bbq pulled pork sandwich with slaw. It was ok, but not what I expected. The sandwich was tangy, and for me, that's where the flavor stopped. I was expecting different layers of flavor, seasonings, and spices of the meat, but it was very monotone for my liking.

We also tried the Cazbar truck, where they serve Turkish food and have a home base restaurant ( also called Cazbar on 316 N. Charles St.). We ordered the Chicken kabob and Beef Shawarma ( Served with rice). The price was about 6 dollars each. They both were delicious. The spices gave the meats multidimensions of flavor, plus there was a grilled taste that added its own layer. We opted not to add the yogurt sauce but I think next time around I will add it because it gives the meat a little moisture. But all in all I was pleased with the meals from Cazbar.

We had a wonderful, taste-filled time at the Gathering Part 2 and are looking forward to exploring more of the great food trucks in Baltimore!
