3/26/11- Midnite Confection's Cupcakery- Location: Federal Hill

After a nice afternoon with The Hubby at the harbor and shopping, I was in the mood for some kinda dessert!
I remembered that Har mentioned the day before that he really liked cupcakes (don’t know if he minds me announcing that to the world) so with the help of my phone I was able to find what seemed to be a pretty good cupcake place, based on customer reviews.

We drove the 5 minutes from the harbor and found a place to park, which was a little trouble because the area is filled with grills, bars, and cute boutiques ( heads up to my ladies who like to shop!). When we stepped into the cupcakery I had a good feeling about the place. It was nested in a used to be house turned into a cute cupake boutique! The walls were painted a silver tin, there was a glass case for the exhibition of model cupcakes, small seating, and the place was very clean.

I grabbed a menu and looked for chocolate!!! Before I could even decide, Har already had his choice in mind; he decided on the Black velvet with cream cheese frosting, it was supposed to taste just like red velvet cake. My choice of cupcake came soon after; I chose the Midnite which is a chocolate-chocolate chip cupcake, with chocolate cream cheese frosting. At the register Har surprised me with buying two of them without tasting first, he's a very ambitious guy! Each cupcake was $2.75, if my memory serves me right. I should alert you that the cupcakes were normal size, so don’t expect ginormous cakes! I should also mention that the guy at the register was very nice and friendly.

We waited only a short time for our cakes. Har couldn’t wait to get his home so he devoured one in the car with an izze by his side. I could tell he liked it because not a word came from his mouth until I asked him how it was. I later tasted his cake at home. It tasted like red velvet! It was moist and thick and Har said his cream cheese frosting tasted like a cloud! The cake as a whole was a home run! Even though Har’s was good, I have to say I think my cake was a little better (that may be just because it was my pick). It possessed that chocolaty goodness that I love without being overbearing. The chocolate cream cheese frosting took a little time to get used to, but the combination was nice.

All in all I think Har and I have found a new reasonably priced place to get cupcakes! One of the best things about the cupcakery is that it is a hop and a skip away from our house. We will definitely visit again because there are many other cakes to try! If you are ever in Federal Hill, stop by Midnite Confection's Cupcakery and give them a try... I don’t think you will be disappointed!
